It is a traditional festival linked to their neighborhood to be held in late July.
It begins with the opening in the former Hotel Triana. Despite the heat at this time in Seville there are many tourists coming to enjoy the atmosphere of the streets, adorned with lanterns and lights.
The “Velá de Santa Ana” welcomes it´s visitors at the bridge of Isabel II, through its main door, to reach the decorated Altozano´s square and following to the Calle Betis, to enjoy the wine and cuisine of the booths.
Over the days some sports competitions and exhibitions of painting, ceramics, theater cycle, scavenger hunts and films are in the Plaza de Santa Ana are organized. In the evenings there are performances of different types and gender into the stage seted up in Piazza del Altozano.
In the afternoon by the river is done in the traditional “Cucaña”, which is placed in a boat on the river and leaving a long neck and smeared with tallow or grease with a flag at the end, all the contestants have to pass this mast to reach the flag. Everybody who gets it gets a prize.
On the 25th we celebrate the “Velá de Santiago”, with flowers been delivered in the church, and then continue with the eve of Santa Ana, with the act of Joys, terminate with fireworks.
