In 1987 has been declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site and in 2007 one of the 12 Spanish´s Treasure.

In 1401 it was decided to raise a new temple; there is a tradition that one of the canons, when it was agreed uttered the phrase: "Let build a church so large that when finished people will take us as madman." The Cathedral of Seville is located on the site of the Grand Mosque built in the twelfth century and which retains its minaret, now called "Giralda" the weathervane that was finished in the sixteenth century.

It consists of five naves, the main one has 36 meters. The Metropolitan Council has been the custodian for seven centuries of its rich history. This maintains the daily liturgy and the celebration of the great festivals of Corpus Christi and the Immaculate, constantly attends devotion to the Virgen de los Reyes, and makes extensive pastoral sacramental, as the first church of the Diocese of Seville.
